The Quail Shed, operated by Don Stephen and Clifford Neames, is based near the town of Casey, Illinois in Clark county. As the name indicates, it began as a pen-raised bird hunting operation, which offers the upland game hunter great shooting for strong-flying pheasants, quail, and chukars. Our bird hunting is done in planted fields, where hunters enjoy fun times afield in a safe atmosphere! Let us know what you want to shoot, and the birds will be waiting!
More recently, the Quail Shed has become recognized for offering some of the finest hunting for 100% free range wild whitetail deer to be found in the state! Our success over the past seven years was predictable, and the formula which made it happen is simple.
Don is a local resident and life-long farmer, who stays in close contact with the land. His daily routine lets him monitor the giant whitetail bucks which roam the thousands of acres we hunt.
Clifford, a nationally recognized outdoor writer, television personality, and whitetail fanatic with forty years of experience in the field, serves as general manager, and fine tunes the operation.
As a team, they run an uncomplicated and highly successful hunt which produces lots of big bucks, and satisfied clients!
The Quail Shed provides a chance for anyone to access prime hunting land, and mature bucks that have not been heavily pressured, at a very reasonable cost, no matter what type of hunt you choose. We can do this because we don't have a fancy expensive lodge, which you would have to pay for.
Our camp-style accomodations are comfortable, warm, and dry, and we have lots of fresh linens, blankets, towels, and hot showers.
If you're staying with us, we also plan to keep you well fed, with our awesome home-cooked meals!

While the primary focus at The Quail Shed is bowhunting, limited gun hunts are booked to help control the whitetail population, and to provide even more opportunity to put a trophy deer up on your wall! This broad range of opportunites provides a lot of flexibilty, and also helps us to manage our deer density.
Our goal is to provide the opportunity to hunt giant whitetails, and we have the management program in place to make that happen.

Don, Clifford, and the rest of the Quail Shed staff will provide you with pre-scouted stand locations, and will help you get your deer out of the woods after a successful hunt! We can also steer you toward someone who will process or mount your deer, and take pictures of your trophy buck!
